High security locks
Harder to pick, harder to drill, and harder to copy the key.
A high security lock gives you more than a standard lock in two ways: the cylinder is built from harder materials to a design that resists attack, and the key is controlled so copies cannot be cut casually. Plenty of locks on the market are advertised as high security. Only the ones carrying an actual high security rating qualify for the name.
They are virtually pick-proof. The mechanisms make picking extremely difficult, in some cases impossible. They are mostly drill-resistant too, using hardened cases, hardened pins or discs set in the drill path, and shields protecting the lock itself. The point of all of it is time: the longer a lock holds, the less use it is to anyone attacking it.
The category is wider than mechanical locks. It also covers electromagnetic locks, digital access locks and fingerprint and biometric locks. Worth knowing: even where sophisticated electronic access control is installed, most doors still carry a manual lock, often as a key override. That manual lock is only as good as its cylinder.
Keys for CISA SP high security cylinders are only duplicated with the written authorisation of the lock owner. We keep the owner details of every high security lock we sell on record. Those clients include several embassies and consulates, and a great many ordinary people for whom security matters.

Choosing the right one
The honest answer depends on your circumstances. Think about the area, the type of business, and how often people come and go.
- Resisting a forced entryHardened cases, pins and shields designed to hold against drilling and manipulation.
- Keys you controlRestricted profiles that cannot be duplicated without your written authorisation.
- Digital and biometric accessElectromagnetic, digital access, fingerprint and biometric locks where a key is the wrong tool.
- Staff turnover and changing codesIf people come and go often, that changes which system makes sense. Tell us and we will say so.

What happens when you call
Nobody should sell you a high security lock before understanding the door it goes on and who moves through it.
- 01Tell us about the premises
Home or business, the area, the type of doors, and roughly how many people hold keys.
- 02We recommend the right level
Not every door needs the top of the range. We will tell you where the money is worth spending.
- 03The lock is fitted and registered
The cylinder is installed and your details go on record as the registered owner of that key profile.
- 04You control the keys from then on
Duplicates are only cut on your written authorisation, at the place the system was bought.

Who holds the record of your key profile
AAA Locksmiths has served the Cape Peninsula since 1999. On high security systems we hold the owner record that controls who can have a key cut, which is only worth anything if the company holding it is stable and accountable.
- PSIRA-registered security service provider
- Members of the Locksmith Association of South Africa
- Owner details recorded for every high security lock sold
- Keys duplicated on written authorisation only
- Manufacturer warranty on the hardware we install

Common questions
If you are comparing options, call and describe the door and the area.
How is a high security lock different from an expensive normal lock?
A rated high security lock has to prove it is more resistant to manipulation than a standard lock. That means a harder cylinder, drill resistance built into the design, and controlled key duplication. Price alone does not make a lock high security.
Can somebody cut a copy of my key?
Not without your written authorisation. Keys for CISA SP high security cylinders are only duplicated on the owner’s instruction, and we keep the owner details of every high security lock we sell on record.
Are they really pick-proof?
Virtually. The mechanisms make picking extremely difficult and in many cases impossible, and the cylinders are built to resist drilling as well. No lock is infinite, but these are designed to hold long enough to make the attempt pointless.
Do I need one on every door?
Usually not. It is normal to put high security on the doors that actually carry the risk and keep sensible standard hardware elsewhere. We will tell you where it is worth the money.
Do they cost more?
Yes, the locks and the keys both cost more than a standard system. What you are buying is resistance and key control over years, which is why they are the standard choice for embassies, consulates and anyone who has already been broken into once.
